In 1995 a child sick with Leukemia by the name of Jonathan Lambert was granted his long time wish thru the Make A Wish Foundation to visit the Neverland Valley Ranch and meet his idol Michael Jackson. Jonathan received a tour of the amusement park and Michael Jacksons home. According to a letter from Jonathan’s mother “We Are The World” was Jonathan’s favorite song. He would play the song often hoping to help others who were less fortunate. While visiting with Michael Jackson in Neverland Jonathan saw the American Music Award for “We Are The World” and was in awe as it represented so much meaning to him. Jonathan expressed his feelings about the award to Michael Jackson at which time Michael turned to Jonathan and said “This Award Belongs To You Now”. Michael Jackson also wrote Jonathan a note on Neverland Valley Ranch stationary that reads “My Music Award” signed “Love Michael Jackson”. The Award is accompanied by the note from Michael Jackson and a letter from Jonathan Lambert’s mother.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the award will go to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.
"I had only worked at Neverland for a few weeks. It was a very warm day. I was in my suit (and thinking to myself it was a bit hot to be wearing a suit), standing near the front of the amusement park grinding ice for the snow cone machine with my back to the road that runs in front of the park. I see a golf cart full of people out of the corner of my eye; the golf cart stops right behind me. I keep grinding ice and I hear, "Sure is hot today, isn’t it?" I slowly turn around and agree then go back to grinding ice. Then … WHAM, a water balloon hits me in the middle of the back. As the golf cart speeds off I hear Mr. Jackson say, "It wasn’t me". I realized that I was feeling much cooler and a thought ran through my mind, "I have never had a boss throw a water balloon at me, I think this is going to be a fun place to work.”
This incident really sticks out in my mind because I had only been working at Neverland for a few weeks and had not had any contact with Mr. Jackson yet, other than running a few rides for him.” Big Al Scanlan - Director of Maintenance at Neverland Ranch from 1990 to 2005
Javon Beard: He’d planned a special gift for Prince: a seven-week-old chocolate Labrador puppy. But the people that Feldman arranged to get the dog from had arrived too early on Christmas Eve. Mr. Jackson didn’t want Prince to see the dog, and there was nobody else to step up, so I said, “I’ll take him for the night.”
I took the dog home, kept him at my house. Cute dog. Did not shut up. Whined and whimpered all damn night. I’d barely slept a couple hours when my phone started ringing off the hook. It was only six a.m., but somehow Prince had gotten wind of the surprise and wanted the puppy as soon as possible. So, I dragged my ass out of bed, put the puppy in the car, and drove it over. Little guy was whimpering and whining the whole way.
But the second I brought him inside Mr. Jackson’s house? He shut right up. He was suddenly as sweet and lovable as he could be, like he knew he was finally home. Prince went crazy. He loved that dog. Named it Kenya.

”One time, we were driving and Blanket started to say something, and Mr. Jackson kinda shushed him. The kids kept giggling and Mr. Jackson kept going, ‘Shhh! No, I didn’t! No, I didn’t!’ Blanket said, ‘Yes, you did, Daddy. You said that Bill looked like..’ ‘Shhh! ‘
So now I was curious. I said, ‘Bill looks like what?’ I looked in the rearview mirror. Blanket and Mr. Jackson were both staring at each other like, Who’s gonna tell him?
Blanket looked at me and said, ‘Bill, Daddy says you look like the Thing!”
“The Thing? What’s the Thing?’
'You know,' Blanket said, 'the guy from the Fantastic Four! Daddy said you look like the Thing from the Fantastic Four.'
And I was like, Wow. Okay. The brother’s got jokes. Then Blanket said, ‘And Javon looks like Frozone from The Incredibles!’
We all had a good laugh about it.” Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard - MJ’s bodiguards
Up for auction is Sammy Davis Jr.’s personal address book from the 1980′s. It reads like a time capsule of Hollywood and a who’s who of the famous. Names of stars include Muhammad Ali, Liz Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Dean Martin, Clint Eastwood, Ella Fitzgerald, Richard Pryor and Gene Kelly to name but a few.
But there’s one name that stands out from even this elite crowd, and that is Michael Jackson’s. The spiral-bound notebook is filled out in Davis’ own hand and shows many signs of use.
Michael’s number is shown clearly at the bottom left of the above image. His number was (213) 907 5130, with an alternative 1371 to replace 5130, presumably a second line.
Can you imagine having that number in the 1980s!
Her reaction though.
